Hardcover, copyright date of 1903 (actually printed in 1918 -see description) Grosset & Dunlap 291 pages plus 4 pages of ads for other novels. Good+, in a Good+ DJ. Minor shelf/edge wear to light green cloth boards with olive titles - corners sharp. A touch of browning to the spine from the backside of the DJ. Moderate shelf/edge wear, minor chipping and dust soiling to unclipped DJ - now in mylar. Closed tear at spine repaired on the backside of the DJ with archival tape. Jacket art taken from a painting of young woman reading by candlelight is by John M.Burke. Four black & white illustrations by Louis F. Grant. Previous owner circular embossed stamp on FFEP and gift inscription to other owner on the half-title page. All text is free of writing. Pages crisp with a few spots on some pages and some foxing to the first few pages and text block edges as well. Faint shelf lean. Authors first book is a true story from his own family. The last entry of Zane Grey novels on the ad page is The Last of The Great Scouts, which was published in 1918 by Grosset. Still attractive despite the minor flaws. LOC SSS-08
